Author Interview: Bunses Tedses

Your stories are a collaborative effort. How did you come up with the name you write under? Very interesting question. My girlfriend started calling me Teddy, and I started calling her Hunny Bunny. My girlfriend is a fan of Lord Of The Rings and sometimes likes to talk like a Smeagle
Tell us something about yourselves.
From the book intro: Who is BunsesTedses? It is your most atypical couple. Age gap, Inter racial, across cultures, different languages and sense of humor. Fair lady matched with a tall dark handsome stranger. They write about their sexy romantic adventures in bed, on the kitchen table and every now and then in the forest. The stories are written sometimes from her point of view, sometimes from his. What they have in common is the wish for their stories to spread good karma in the form of orgasmic energy for their readership. Based in Medium.com where their almost 300 short stories have been read about a quarter million times. Mostly one handed, or at least they prefer to believe so. Join their adventures!
You publish short erotica on Medium. I think of Medium as more of a place to share essay type pieces. Do you have a large audience there? What has the response been? We currently have 1730 followers and 24 email subscribers. We make about 100 bucks from the platform, publishing between 4 and 8 stories. Our stories are an average 800 words a piece. In the books we have put together between 12 and 14 of them.
How did you get into writing these short erotica pieces? They are based on things we live through, most of them real, with some literary fixes. We sometimes even write about the same event from both points of view. Initially we were writing them for ourselves, and came out with the idea to also publish them in Medium (Where I also had a professional blog). They became more successful than my musings on Software development 🙂
Why did you choose to write erotic flash fiction? It kind of reminds me of how the adult entertainment industry puts out single scenes for websites. I never considered that it could be done with the written word. Honestly, we were surprised with the reception. We got into one known publication: My Erotica, an this makes the bulk of our publishing now. We get around 1000 reads for every story. We enjoy how people highlight and comment on them.
How long have you been writing on Medium? Do you think Medium is a good place to share fiction? We started in 2018. Medium has been good for us, both in giving us a platform and for the financial rewards. 100 bucks a month is not much, yet enough to allow us to go to a fancy dinner, or to help us finance our current experiment with Kindle
Where do the ideas come from? It is stuff we live through. You could say we are quite experimental, and yes, the stories in the forest, the kitchen, and the creek have taken place. We summarize what happens mostly to keep memories of our adventures for ourselves. That our readership likes them is a plus.
What is the hardest thing about writing erotica? No pun intended. Finding the right balance between emotion and action. You need to balance the tough words with the romantic side of the story. We usually start our stories with an excerpt of the main action and then describe how we got there, and how it ended.
Do you think that erotica is unnecessarily maligned? Why? It is definitely a taboo topic. Few folks would admit reading it, yet thanks to the e-readers it has become popular specially among the ladies. We think that the younger generation is a bit more open minded, and European readership is definitely more accepting than America.
Tell us about the collections you have coming out? Why did you decide to compile all of your stories into books? We sometimes publish our statistics in Medium to help other smut peddlers. We realized we had enough material for at least 6 if not 8 books. So we decided to pack them as an exercise to try to expand our readership. So long it has been so much fun, finding an editor, a photographer, and getting into the Bookstagrammers world.
Do you think you will ever put together a novel length story? Why or why not? If we are successful with this we will probably do a novel based on our life, with a V story line (From all is great, to all is going to hell, to all is great again).
Is there anyone you would be mortified to have read your work? I think we would not like our parents to read this.
I am sure you have seen the posts on Instagram where people are defending their love of reading romance books because they are shamed for reading it. It’s not considered “real” literature or it’s a waste of time, or whatever judgmental thing people come up with. What would you like to tell these haters? As authors we are happy when our readers connect to our adventures. One of the titles in the collection will be called “Tea for 3”, and will be about threesomes (Of which we have had a few). We believe that by presenting our experiences our readers might get an inkling how does it feel to be in such a situation, and who knows, maybe help them enjoy one in real life one day.
When you write smut, you need to evolve elephant skin. We write for our readers, who know where to find us. If someone does not want to read us, they can just skip our aisle 🙂
